Free Spirited — Passionate — Optimist

I’m Jessica, the girl behind the camera! I’m glad you want to get to know a little bit about me, because our interactions together mean so much. Besides being a photographer, I am also a wife to a wonderful man named Tim, and mother of 3 babes; Jovie, Hudson and Leland. When I’m not taking photos, you can probably find me at the gym getting my workout on (and lets face it, the 2 hour childcare is a huge incentive ;)), going on some grand adventure with the fam, or hanging out at our cute little 1929 craftsman home in Royal Oak, Michigan. I’m definitely an optimist in life, and am truly passionate about living out the life God has intended for me. People are my passion, and I’m pretty sure that is a huge reason I love being a photographer so much. I get to be around people ALL the time, and it absolutely fills my soul. I believe in taking risks to pursue a dream, because dreams are worth it.  I completely changed careers 3 years ago and never looked back. Photography has been the job I never expected, but one I’ve always dreamt of.

A huge part of the way I photograph has to do with how I see the world and the people in it. It’s so easy to see the darkness and hardships that roam this earth, but there is such a light and goodness in the midst.  When I get to photograph a wedding or lifestyle session, I get to capture that goodness and make it shine.  Time seems so fleeting these days, and being able to pause that for a sacred moment, is an honor I’ll cherish forever. I read somewhere that good photography can awaken the eyes, and opened eyes can speak to the heart. It’s so much deeper than “just a photograph” for me.
